LC/MS MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST

Location: Nashville, TN

Duties:

 

  • Design and update procedures to promote maximum efficiency/accuracy of testing and reporting.
  • Stock and monitor expenses and usage of department supplies inventory.
  • Performs tests according to department policy within designed time frames observed by supervisor.
  • Identify and correct problems that may adversely affect test performance or result reporting of patient samples.
  • Adhere to quality control policies, document and maintain Quality Control and Quality Assurance records demonstrating proficiency testing as performed.
  • Adhere to established policy and procedure whenever test systems are not within established acceptable level of performance.
  • Exercise all laboratory safety precautions and adhere to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals.
  • Produces and interprets accurate and precise test results.
  • Reports test results via the laboratory computer or other designated mechanism.
  • Performs instrument maintenance.
  • Performs instrument/method troubleshooting.
  • Performs quality control, performs proficiency testing.
  • Communicates pertinent section information/issues to supervisor, manager or other appropriate individual.
  • Appropriate experience in analytical toxicology including experience with the analysis of biological material for drugs, hormones, & steriods.
  • Advanced understanding of LC/MS/MS technique. Experience calibrating, troubleshooting, and method development on a LC/MS instrumentation.
  • Advance operational skills of LC/MS/MS.
  • Good laboratory skills, a professional awareness of chemical hazards, understands the importance of safety in the laboratory.
  • Advanced ability to understand analytical techniques and procedures.
  • Advanced ability to understand laboratory instrumentation.
  • Advance ability to understand certification requirements for CLIA and CAP with integrated supplemental understanding on regulatory requirements of NIDA, and SAMHSA.
  • Advanced ability to understand the functions of a LIS and other laboratory computer systems.
  • Above average computer skills; detail-oriented; works well under pressure, excellent hand/eye coordination.
  • Advanced ability to understand immunoassay analysis.
  • Analytical skills required for the extraction of drugs from biological samples and LC/MS/MS equipment experience.
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Advanced ability to teach others.
  • General knowledge of statistical methods to used to evaluate data in toxicology and chemistry.

M-F 7am-3:30pm

Requirements:

 

  • State Licensed as MLT or MT with BS degree preferred, certified scientist with LC/MS experience considered.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, and working knowledge of statistical programs such as EP evaluator.

FLOW CYTOMETRY TECHNOLOGIST

Location: Nashville, TN

Duties:

 

  • Receive and process Cytogenetic, FISH and/or Flow Cytometry specimens according to department protocols.
  • Perform analysis of Cytogenetic, FISH and/or Flow Cytometry.
  • Assists the Supervisor, Manager and Director with administrative functions such as ordering supplies and maintaining inventory.
  • Assists in documentation and maintaining effective department QA/QC programs and monitors.
  • Work with other departments within PathGroup and its subsidiaries.

Hours:

M-F 8:30am-5:30pm with rotating weekends

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelors Degree
  • National certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Clinical Laboratory Specialist in Cytogenetics (CG) or as a Medical Technologist (MT).
  • Must hold a valid Tennessee Medical Laboratory License.
  • Maintains appropriate continuing education for certification and licensure
  • Over one year Cytogenetic, FISH and/or Flow Cytometry experience required.
  • Must be able to make independent decisions, process information accurately, manage multiple projects simultaneously and be organized.

HISTOLOGY ASSISTANT

Location:

Nashville, TN

Duties:

 

  • Accession all tissue specimens and make cassettes.
  • Assist pathologist and pathologist assistants in cutting room.
  • Properly hang tissue on the processors.
  • Responsible for determining/selecting specimens for grossing.
  • Photograph specimens (Polaroid, digital, and 35 mm).
  • Prepare tissue to be sent out for further testing such as Lymphoma Phenotyping, Quantitative Iron studies, etc.
  • Keep quality control charts on equipment in the accession and cutting room.
  • Prepare routine solutions, ensure paraffin dispensers are filled daily, maintain and inventory of supplies and store in proper location and keep a clean work area. 
  • Responsible for proper disposal and handling of hazardous waste to include xylene recycling (i.e. xylene, reagent alcohol, formaldehyde) and dispose of specimens according to procedures.

Hours:

M-F 11am-7:30pm

Requirements:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED is required, with college preferred.

  • One to two years of prior job-related experience is preferred.

  • Must be computer literate with minimum typing speed of 30 words-per-minute.

  • Pathology technical skills and medical terminology experience is preferred.

HISTOTECHNICIAN

Location: Salem, VA

Duties:

 

  • Embed, cut, H and E stain and coverslip routine specimens (surgical and office), prepare, cut and stain frozen sections, and perform special staining and immunohistochemsitry procedures as directed by pathologist.
  • Maintain fresh solutions, stains and/or re-agents.
  • Label and maintain slides in an orderly fashion and file all blocks and slides properly.
  • Maintain microtome, cryostat and maintenance records.
  • Maintain quality control of procedures and equipment.
  • Assist pathologist in the cutting room and maintain cleanliness of the cutting room.
  • Assist in training of new employees.
  • Maintain clean workstation and sharp microtome knife.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies.
  • Responsible for proper disposal and handling of hazardous waste.

Hours:

M-F Rotating Shifts 3am, 5am, 6am

Requirements:

 

  • One to two years of prior job-related experience is required.

  • ASCP registered or eligible for certification with 1 to 2 years prior job related experience.

  • Associates Degree is preferred in histology or related subjects.

CYTOGENETIC TECHNOLOGIST (2 Positions Available)

Duties:

HEALTHCARE APPLICATIONS ANALYST

Duties:

 

  • Assist with the interface of the IDX system with other information systems at PathGroup.
  • Obtain information from the client necessary to update all relevant IDX data dictionaries.  Perform dictionary edit and ensure accuracy and completeness of information added to the IDX dictionaries on behalf of the client.
  • Examine claim form layout needs and develop additional claim form designs and/or logic as needed to meet the needs of the client.  Determine claim form edits desired by the client and add them to the IDX system as necessary.
  • Assist the client in developing report needs.  Examine report output from the existing system and develop ad-hoc reports where indicated to provide continuity of client decision support.
  • Create and maintain end user documentation as necessary to include client-specific information.  Verify that the documentation to be provided meets the client’s informational needs.
  • Train end users in the modules and functions of IDX consistent with their level of security access.  Prepare copies of training documentation.
  • Assists with the implementation of modules of IDX available in future phases (upgrades of current applications, as well).
  • Transmit Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross and Commercial claims electronically.
  • Perform tasks necessary to map the client’s insurance classifications to PathGroup’s insurance classification.
  • Perform tasks necessary to implement electronic billing with insurance payers and claims clearinghouse.
  • Serve as liaison between the insurance companies and PathGroup.
  • Collection / work EDI rejection code summary reports.
  • Process daily reports in Billing Department.
  • Process component files on PathSys and IDX.
  • Process daily interface files.
  • Responsible for maintaining and supporting all IDX, Carrier and Interface Edits.
  • Analyze and identify patterns within the Interface, Carrier and EDI Edits.
  • Analyze and process edits on the interface edit lists.
  • Create / modify IDX queries.

  • PC skills and knowledge of system interfaces with A/R billing knowledge in a medical environment is required.

System Administrator

Duties:

 

  • Manage and ensure integrity of host computers and operating systems.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform server hardware improvements, upgrades, and/or purchases within IT guidelines. Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2008 R2 and Active Directory required. 
  • Must be knowledgeable of VMWare’s vCenter and ESX
  • Responsible for performing system backups using Symantec BackupExec software.
  • Responsible for administrating our SharePoint servers
  • Access need for system reconfigurations (minor or significant) and execute them within IT guidelines.
  • Assist in coordination of purchase and installation of hardware, software and peripherals.
  • Participate in the on-call technical support rotation
  • Responsible for maintaining and administering Disaster Recovery plan 
  • Responsible for researching and deploying Microsoft Windows Server updates to all servers.
  • Must have a working knowledge Windows Server Update Services or equivalent software
  • Responsible for maintaining and administering Microsoft Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2010.
  • Must have a working knowledge of DHCP and DNS.
  • Assist with Help Desk Support tickets as needed using our Track-It ticket system.
  • Work to ensure Patient Health Information (PHI) is maintained in a secure manner.
  • Responsible for managing and maintaining Citrix 4.5 Presentation Server

Project Coordinator

Duties:

 

  • Works closely with PathGroup's Project Administrator and act as Project Administrator's backup.
  • Maintains list of IT projects and tasks and assists with prioritization. 
  • Coordinates the implementation of PathSys into hospitals and other applicable clients.
  • Coordinates the creation of interfaces for hospital and other accounts, which include, but are not limited to Historical Data, ADT, Orders, Results, Charges, and Components. 
  • Works directly with clients and performs all tasks necessary to complete the interfaces.
  • Provides project status reports to Project Stakeholders and senior management.
  • Work applicable TrackIt tickets to enhance PathSys knowledge, its functionality and how user-friendliness.
  • Work with QA Analyst to understand Project and PathSys release tracking requirements.
  • Work with the IT team to research internal IT department and security  department projects.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPER

Duties:

 

  • Develop, enhance and maintain application software and databases to established standards and specifications using approved programming languages.
  • Review, analyze, and modify application software and databases including encoding, testing, debugging and documenting programs.
  • Implement approved changes to application software and databases to correct problems, modify or enhance applications function.
  • Participate in the PathGroup Project Process.
  • Participate in the design and selection of new application software and tools.
  • Participate in interfacing PathGroup application software with other systems.
  • Test application software to assure accuracy, integrity, interoperability and completeness to achieve desired results before software undergoes final user testing.
  • Analyze reasons for application and database failures, and revise applications or database logic as necessary.
