Samuel Smith, M.D.
Dr. Samuel Smith joined Associated Pathologists in 1978 and became the Medical Director of PathGroup Labs at its inception. He has over 20 years of hospital and independent laboratory Medical Director experience. He is a member of numerous medical societies and professional organizations including Tennessee Medical Association, Nashville Academy of Medicine and the American Society for Clinical Pathology. He received his M.D. at University of Louisville in 1973.

Terry Casey, M.D.
Dr. Casey has been with Associated Pathologists since 1998 and currently serves as a Managing Member of the group and Medical Director of PathGroup Nashville’s Anatomic Pathology Laboratory. Born in New Orleans, Dr. Casey attended Tulane University School of Medicine where he attained his M.D. in 1981. His postgraduate training occurred in the Department of Pathology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Casey is Board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology with Hematology Subspecialty Certification.

Dr. Ashwini Yenamandra
Director Clinical Cytogenetics
Dr. Yenamandra brings over 20 years of Cytogenetics expertise to our organization. She served as a Fellow at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and with subsequent positions at the New Jersey University of Medicine and Dentistry, North Shore University Hospital in New York, and most recently as a director for a large, full menu, private genetics lab. She has extensive expertise in Constitutional Cytogenetics, as well as Cancer Cytogenetics and Molecular Cytogenetics. The addition of Dr. Yenamandra to our facility has propelled our Molecular Genetic capabilities to a level which surpasses many academic medical centers in the United States.

James L. Prescott Ph.D.
Molecular & Microbiology Directory
Dr. Prescott joined PathGroup Labs in 2008. He has a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and has nearly 20 years of Molecular Biology experience, including nearly 10 years of Molecular Diagnostics experience. Dr. Prescott is Board certified by the American Board of Bioanalysis (ABB) as a High Complexity Clinical Laboratory Director (HCLD) in Molecular Diagnostics. He received his Ph.D. from the Mayo Graduate School in 1997, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo in 1986. Prior to coming to PathGroup Labs, Dr. Prescott was the Molecular Development Manager for Carilion Consolidated Labs, Molecular Operations Manager for Innovative Pathology Services, and a Senior Scientist for LabCorp, Dianon Systems and UroCor.

Dewayne Belew
General Operations Manager for East Tennessee
Mr. Belew joined PathGroup in October of 2005. Prior to joining PathGroup, Dewayne spent 22 years in Hospital Administration, Healthcare Marketing, Public Relations and Fundraising. He also taught Marketing, Advertising, and Public Relations for nine years as an Adjunct Professor at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. Dewayne earned his B.S. degree at Middle Tennessee State University and his Master of Science Degree at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

Peggy Bond, ASCP (HT),
Administrative Director of Technical Services and Director of Client Relations
Ms. Bond has been with Associated Pathologists and PathGroup since November 15, 1966. Through these 40+ years, Ms. Bond has held the positions of Histology Supervisor; Pathology Manager (including Cytology, Histology, Transcription, external locations, and supervising 100+ employees); and Phlebotomy Manager (responsible for 90 off-site phlebotomists at multiple locations).

Glen Bragg
Chief Operating Manager
Clinical Operations Manager, joined PathGroup in November of 2002, bringing with him over 30 years of clinical laboratory experience. Prior to joining PathGroup, Glen was the C.E.O. of Laboratory Services for a major division of a national hospital company.

Justin Calcagni
Directory of IT Operations
joined PathGroup in April of 2006. He has over 10 years of experience in healthcare, consulting and I.T. industries. Prior to PathGroup, he worked at Oracle Corporation as a Technical Consultant implementing ERP software, and at Computer Sciences Corporation as a Software QA Analyst, Server and Database Administrator. Justin was promoted to Operations Manager, Medical Data Integrity in 2007. Currently Justin is the Director of I.T. Operations and is responsible for managing PathGroup’s I.T. resources including servers, networking and applications. The I.T. organization supports over 400 users in multiple locations. Justin earned both a B.A. and M.B.A. from Vanderbilt University.

Vickie Clinard, MS, MT (ASCP)
Microbiology and DNA Testing Manager
Ms. Clinard joined PathGroup Labs in July of 2003. Vickie has over 20 years of experience in Clinical Microbiology and Molecular Diagnostics while working for the Tennessee Department of Health and major academic and non-academic hospitals. She earned her BA and Masters in Health Care Administration from the University of Tennessee.

Ken DeGraff
Director of Project Administration
Mr. DeGraff joined PathGroup in May of 2000. He has over 30 years of business experience in a variety of industries. He joined PathGroup as the in-house Software Trainer and Supporter and was promoted to I.T. Director in December of 2004. He is responsible for assisting PathGroup’s project owners to document, organize and track projects. Ken has a B.S. in Business Administration and is a CPA (Certified Public Accountant).

Randy Flesher
Operations Manager
RT (CSMLS) and HT (ASCP), joined PathGroup in 2004 as the Histology Supervisor. Although formally trained as a Medical Technologist, Randy has been working in the Anatomic Pathology field for 15 years. As Anatomic Operations Manager, he oversees operations in the Histology, Cytology, Flow Cytometry, and Clinical Cytogenetics departments. He recently completed an M.B.A. with a focus in Health Care Management.

Debbie Stinnett
Operations Manager
MT (AMT), joined PathGroup in June of 1997. She has 25 years of experience in a variety of laboratory environments with technical experience in Flow Cytometry, Molecular, Anatomic and Clinical areas. As Operations Manager, Debbie is currently responsible for many of the pre-analytic processes of our laboratory to include Client Services, Transportation, Supply and Accessioning.

Dan Apple
Senior Vice President–Laboratory Operations
Mr. Apple joined PathGroup in 2005. With over 30 years of business experience and 25 years in healthcare, he previously served as Senior Vice-President–Operations in the Central Division of LabCorp, a national independent clinical laboratory.
