Samuel
Smith, M.D., Medical Director
Dr.
Samuel Smith joined
Associated Pathologists in 1978 and became the Medical
Director
of PathGroup Labs at its inception. He has over
20 years of hospital and independent laboratory Medical
Director experience.
He is a
member
of
numerous
medical societies
and professional organizations including Tennessee
Medical Association, Nashville Academy of Medicine
and the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
He received his M.D. at University of Louisville
in 1973.
Terry
Casey, M.D., Medical Director
Dr.
Casey has been with Associated Pathologists since
1998 and
currently serves as a Managing
Member of the group and Medical Director of PathGroup
Nashville’s Anatomic Pathology Laboratory.
Born in New Orleans, Dr. Casey attended Tulane
University School of Medicine where he attained
his M.D. in
1981.
His postgraduate training occurred in the Department
of Pathology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Dr. Casey is Board certified in Anatomic and Clinical
Pathology with Hematology Subspecialty Certification.
Vladimir
Kravtsov, Ph.D, M.D.
Medical
Director, Molecular Pathology and Flow Cytometry,
Board Certified in Clinical Pathology & Hematopathology
Dr. Kravtsov earned his M.D. degree at the Kuban
State Medical Institute in Russia and went on to
receive his Ph.D. degree in Philosophy in Medicine
from Leningrad Institute of Experimental Medicine.
Dr. Kravtsov completed his Residency training in
Pathology and Fellowship in Hematology at Vanderbilt
University and his Clinical Fellowship in Hematopathology
at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. He
has served as a Senior Scientist at Tel Aviv University,
Assistant Professor of Medicine in Hematology and
Oncology at Vanderbilt University and Medical Director
and Chief Hematopathologist of DiaTech Oncology
in Montreal. Dr. Kravtsov authors several patents
in the area of Medicine and more than 50 publications
in scientific journals. He is a Fellow of the College
of American Pathologists and an active member of
the American Medical Association, American Society
of Hematology and Clinical Cytometry Society.
Patrick
Alan Lennon, Ph.D., FACMG
Director,
Clinical Cytogenetic
Dr.
Lennon received his Ph.D. from the University of
Northern Colorado in Biological Education, with emphasis
in DNA biotechnologies. He received both the Master
and Bachelor of Science degrees in Science Education
from East Carolina University and North Carolina
State University, respectively. After being awarded
the largest federal grant in the history of Southeastern
Oklahoma State University as tenured, Associate Professor
of Biological Sciences, Dr. Lennon completed a certification
program in cytogenetic technology at the University
of Texas-M.D. Anderson Cancer Center (UTMDACC) and
a postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical Cytogenetics
at Baylor College of Medicine. After being involved
at Baylor in the development of a targeted microarray
application for leukemia, he helped to build the
largest National Accrediting Agency for Clinical
Laboratory Sciences-accredited diagnostic molecular
science program in the nation at UTMDACC. Dr. Lennon
has served on the board of directors for the Association
of Genetic Technologists, and currently serves on
the editorial boards of Clinical Laboratory Science,
Annals of Clinical and Laboratory Science, and the
Journal of the Association of Genetic Technologists.
James
L. Prescott Ph.D.
Molecular Diagnostics
Director
Dr.
Prescott joined
PathGroup Labs in 2008. He has a Ph.D. in Molecular
Biology and has nearly 20 years of Molecular
Biology experience, including 10 years of
Molecular
Diagnostics experience. Dr. Prescott is Board
certified by the American Board of Bioanalysis (ABB)
as a
High Complexity Clinical Laboratory Director
(HCLD) in Molecular Diagnostics. He received his
Ph.D.
from the Mayo Graduate School in 1997, and a
Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Cal
Poly
in San Luis Obispo in 1986. Prior to coming to
PathGroup Labs, Dr. Prescott was the Molecular
Development Manager for Carilion Consolidated
Labs, Molecular Operations Manager for Innovative
Pathology
Services, and a Senior Scientist for LabCorp,
Dianon Systems and UroCor.
Dewayne
Belew
Assistant Vice President-Laboratory
Operations
Mr.
Belew joined PathGroup in October of 2005. Prior
to joining PathGroup, Dewayne spent 22 years in Hospital
Administration, Healthcare Marketing, Public Relations
and Fundraising.
He also taught Marketing, Advertising, and
Public Relations for nine years as an Adjunct Professor
at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee.
Dewayne
earned his B.S. degree at Middle Tennessee
State University and his Master of Science Degree
at
the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Dwayne
manages PathGroup's operations in Chattanooga, Knoxville,
Johnson City, TN and Virginia.
Vickie
Clinard, MS, MT (ASCP)
Microbiology and DNA Manager
Ms. Clinard joined PathGroup Labs in July of 2003. Vickie has over 20 years of
experience in Clinical Microbiology and Molecular Diagnostics while working for
the Tennessee Department of Health and major academic and non-academic hospitals.
She earned her BA and Masters in Health Care Administration from the University
of Tennessee.
Ken
DeGraff
Director of Project Administration
Mr. DeGraff
joined PathGroup
in May of 2000. He has over 30 years of business
experience in a variety of industries. He joined
PathGroup as the in-house Software Trainer and
Supporter and was promoted to I.T. Director in
December of 2004. He is responsible for assisting
PathGroup’s project owners to document, organize
and track projects. Ken has a B.S. in Business
Administration and is a CPA (Certified Public Accountant).
Randy Flesher, HT, RT, MBA
Vice President, Operations
Mr. Flesher joined the anatomic technical lab of PathGroup
in 2004. Although formally trained as a medical technologist,
Randy has been working in the Anatomic Pathology field
for over 15 years. During that time he worked in various
technical and managerial roles in hospital and reference
lab settings. As the day-to-day leader of operational
activities, Randy is responsible for the administrative,
business, and personnel development of a rapidly evolving,
highly diverse, and complex laboratory network.
Jeffrey
W. Johnson, BSMT
Assistant Vice President, Operations
Mr. Johnson
joined PathGroup in November of 2005. He has 18 years
of technical, supervisory, and management experience
in both hospital and reference laboratory operation.
Jeff is responsible for the operations of the clinical
lab which include Chemistry, Immunochemistry, Hematology,
Immunohematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, and Serology.
Additionally, he directs PathGroup’s
Phlebotomy department and serves on the PathGroup compliance
committee.
Debbie
Stinnett, MT (AMT)
Assistant Vice President, Operations
Ms. Stinnett joined PathGroup in June of 1997. She
has over 25 years of experience in a variety of laboratory
environments with technical experience in Flow Cytometry,
Molecular, Anatomic and Clinical areas. As Anatomic
Operations Manager, Debbie is currently responsible
for Histology, Cytology, Flow Cytometry, and Molecular
Pathology departments along with many of the pre-analytic
processes of our laboratory to include Client Services,
Medical Data Integrity (MDI), Transportation, and Accessioning.
Chuck Locke Senior Vice President
Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Locke
rejoined PathGroup in April of 2009. Prior to that, he
gained a unique blend of experience in anatomic and clinical
laboratories, physician practice management and hospital
management. Chuck has over 22 years of operational, financial
and business development experience with healthcare organizations,
working in senior management capacities with PathGroup,
HCA Physician Services, MDS Diagnostics, PhyCor and Allied
Clinical Laboratories. Prior to his healthcare industry
experience, he worked as a Senior Auditor for Deloitte
Haskins & Sells. He graduated from the University
of Tennessee at Knoxville with a bachelor’s degree
in Business Administration/Accounting, and was a two-time
NCAA All-American and SEC Champion in track and field.
Chuck’s PathGroup responsibilities include the
management and leadership of the operational functions
of the company. In addition, he is responsible for the
business development, planning and successful integration
of the new growth opportunities of PathGroup.
